Why Multi-Vehicle Roadway Crashes Require Rapid Coordination
Multi-vehicle crashes require coordinated response efforts because multiple patients and hazards may be present at the same time. Emergency crews typically prioritize scene safety, medical assessment, and traffic control to prevent secondary incidents.
Even when injuries are minor, responders must evaluate all occupants due to the potential for hidden or delayed symptoms. Clear communication between units helps ensure that patients are properly assessed and transported when needed. Busy intersections and highways can further complicate response efforts due to ongoing traffic flow and limited access to vehicles involved.
