Seymour, IN (May 31, 2026) – A multi-vehicle collision occurred on Saturday evening, May 30, on southbound I-65 in Jackson County, involving four vehicles. The incident took place around 5:21 p.m. and included a Chevy Impala, a Mini Cooper, a semi-truck, and a Dodge pickup pulling a fifth-wheel camper.
The cause of the crash has not been disclosed. Traffic on both directions of I-65 was later shut down for an extended period while emergency units worked in the vicinity and lanes were cleared.
A 12-year-old boy from New Albany, who was riding in the Chevy Impala, died at the site of the collision. Three other people inside the same vehicle were taken to the hospital for treatment. Two occupants of the Mini Cooper were also injured and received care at Schneck Medical Center in Seymour before being released.
The drivers of the Dodge pickup and the semi-truck did not report any injuries. The inquiry into what led to the collision remains ongoing.
