According to police, a silver sedan went through a red light and struck a white SUV at the intersection. The force of the collision caused the SUV to overturn and come to rest on its roof.
Both drivers received minor cuts. The driver of the SUV was taken to Samaritan Medical Center for evaluation and treatment. A passenger riding in the SUV was not hurt.
The identities of those involved have not been released.
Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the rollover.
We wish those receiving treatment a smooth and speedy recovery.
What Factors Can Contribute to Intersection Crashes?
Intersections are among the most common places for traffic collisions because vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists commonly converge in a limited space. Drivers must monitor traffic signals, watch for cross-traffic, and make quick decisions while navigating through these areas.
Running a red light is one of the leading causes of intersection-related crashes. Even a brief lapse in attention can reduce the time available for other motorists to react. Visibility issues, distracted driving, speeding, and misjudging traffic signal timing can also increase the likelihood of a collision.
When a vehicle is struck from the side, especially at higher speeds, the force can sometimes cause a rollover. The height, weight, and center of gravity of a vehicle may influence how it reacts during such a crash. Reviewing roadway conditions, traffic controls, and vehicle positions often helps investigators better understand how an intersection collision occurred.
