Why Helicopters Are Sometimes Used After Serious Highway Crashes

Air ambulances are usually requested when a person has severe injuries or when getting them to a trauma center quickly is a priority. Medical helicopters allow patients to receive advanced care while traveling to hospitals equipped to handle critical injuries.

The decision to use air transport depends on several factors, including the person’s medical needs, the distance to an appropriate hospital, and roadway conditions that could delay ground transportation. Helicopter crews work alongside emergency personnel to stabilize patients before and during the flight. In many cases, this rapid transport can reduce the time it takes for someone with life-threatening injuries to reach specialized medical care. Even when a helicopter is used, medical evaluations continue after arrival at the hospital to determine the full extent of a person’s injuries and the treatment they require.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
