Franklin, MA (August 12, 2026) – A two-car crash on I-495 southbound near mile marker 43 injured one person Tuesday evening, August 11.
The wreck happened around 5 p.m. and shut down the southbound highway for several hours. The injured person was taken to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
A white Jeep and a red vehicle were involved. Both vehicles showed significant front-end damage after the collision, according to aerial footage from the area.
The southbound lanes remained closed as emergency units worked at the site. Traffic backed up heavily during the evening commute before the highway reopened around 6:35 p.m. The cause of the accident remains under review, and it was not immediately known whether charges would follow.
