Peoria, IL (August 19, 2026) – A resident was injured after flames broke out on Tuesday night, August 18, at a home on the city’s south side.
The person was among three people displaced from the residence in the 1700 block of S Faraday Ave, near W Grinnell St. Emergency units were called shortly before 8:30 p.m. and found flames in one room that had spread into an outside wall.
Crews cut an opening in the roof to help remove heat and smoke from the home. An ambulance later took the injured person to an emergency department, though their condition was not provided.
The American Red Cross is assisting the three people who were displaced. The cause appears to have been unintentional, but the circumstances remain under review.
The investigation into what caused the fire remains ongoing.
