Charlotte, NC (September 9, 2026) – One person died, and two others were hurt Tuesday afternoon, September 8 after a two-vehicle collision on Monroe Rd in southeast Charlotte.
The collision occurred around 6:15 p.m. in the 9100 block of Monroe Rd, near the entrance to McAlpine Creek Park. A Nissan Altima had extensive damage, while a Chrysler Pacifica had front-end damage.
The Nissan driver, identified as 44-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. She later died from those injuries. Two people inside the Chrysler were also taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators believe the woman was speeding on Monroe Rd and passing other vehicles before crossing several lanes into oncoming traffic. The wreck remains under investigation, with additional details expected as the review continues.
