Redstone Township, PA (August 27, 2026) – A person now faces charges after a volunteer firefighter was struck and killed on Wednesday, August 26, on Stone Church Rd. in Redstone Township, Fayette County. The 62-year-old man was identified as Ronald Hostetler of Confluence, Pennsylvania.
Fayette County Coroner Bob Baker said Hostetler died following the hit-and-run along Stone Church Rd. A photo shared by District Attorney Mike Aubele showed a vehicle believed to be a 2004–2016 Chevrolet Colorado.
The vehicle was later found near Bute Rd., and two people were taken into custody. Mark Anthony Dimatteo was charged with homicide by vehicle and having a blood alcohol content of .02 or greater as a second offense.
Court records show Dimatteo’s driver’s license was suspended when the collision occurred. The investigation into the fatal accident remains ongoing as authorities work to establish the full circumstances.
