Why Multi-Vehicle Pedestrian Collisions Require Extensive Investigations
Pedestrian crashes involving multiple vehicles are often among the most complex traffic investigations because authorities must determine the sequence of impacts and each driver’s actions. Investigators examine roadway evidence, vehicle damage, lighting conditions, visibility, witness statements, and any available surveillance or dash-camera footage to reconstruct the incident.
They also evaluate factors such as where the pedestrian entered the roadway, traffic flow, and whether drivers had sufficient time to perceive and react to the hazard. The findings help establish how the collision unfolded and whether any contributing factors played a role in the fatal incident.
