Kern County, CA (September 4, 2026) – One person was killed early on Thursday morning, September 3, in a two-vehicle collision on Panama Road in Kern County. It happened around 4:48 a.m. Panama Road is a rural roadway that runs through farmland southeast of Bakersfield.
A red pickup truck and a dark-colored sedan were involved, according to initial reports. Responders noted the possibility that alcohol or drugs may have been a factor, though this had not been confirmed.
The coroner’s office was called to the scene, and the roadway was closed while crews worked. Two tow trucks were requested to remove the vehicles. The wreck remains under investigation.
