Why Motorcycle Crashes Can Result in Serious Injuries
Motorcycles provide far less physical protection than passenger vehicles, leaving riders more vulnerable during a roadway collision. Even at moderate speeds, the forces involved can lead to severe injuries because riders may be thrown from the motorcycle or come into direct contact with other vehicles or the roadway.
Head injuries are a significant concern in motorcycle crashes. While safety equipment cannot prevent every injury, protective gear may help reduce the severity of certain types of trauma. The circumstances of each collision, including vehicle speed, point of contact, and roadway conditions, can influence the outcome.
After a serious motorcycle crash, investigators often examine vehicle positions, roadway evidence, witness accounts, and visibility conditions. These details help establish the sequence of events and provide a clearer understanding of how the collision occurred.
