Louisburg, NC (September 2, 2026) – Fourteen students were hurt on Tuesday morning after a school bus left Alert Rd and struck a culvert north of Louisburg. The collision happened around 8 a.m. while the bus was carrying students from Terrell Lane Middle School.
The bus driver also went to a hospital following the collision. The students were treated and evaluated for minor and moderate injuries, while no life-threatening injuries were reported.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the bus ran off the roadway, struck a culvert, and hit a mailbox before coming to a stop. The driver was charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane.
The circumstances surrounding the collision remain under investigation. We hope for a quick and full recovery for the students and the driver affected.
