Smyrna, DE (July 31, 2026) – A 15-year-old boy was airlifted to a hospital on Thursday night, July 30, after his electric scooter was struck head-on by a turning vehicle inside the Christina Apartments complex in Smyrna. It happened around 9:21 p.m. on Streamside Circle, police said.
A Toyota Camry was headed northbound on Streamside Circle when it made a left turn back onto the same street, according to police. At the same time, the teen was riding his scooter southbound and continued through the intersection, where the two collided.
The teen was flown to an area hospital, where he was being treated for facial injuries. The driver, a 23-year-old Smyrna woman, was not injured.
The cause of the wreck remains under investigation. We hope for the teen’s full recovery.

Riders benefit from wearing a helmet and using lights or reflective gear after dark, while drivers can help by slowing down and checking twice before making any turn inside a residential complex.
