Wamego, KS (September 14, 2026) – A 17-year-old boy was killed, and another teenager was injured on Sunday, September 13, after a UTV crash near Wamego in Pottawatomie County.
According to the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office, the crash was reported around 12:50 a.m. near Old Post Road and Genn Road, northeast of Wamego. The UTV was traveling eastbound on Old Post Road when the 18-year-old driver attempted to turn south onto Genn Road and lost control.
The 17-year-old passenger, Dylan Higgins of Wamego, was ejected from the UTV and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, Harry Costa, 18, of Wamego, was not injured. A second passenger, Emily Crocker, 16, also of Wamego, suffered minor injuries but was not transported by EMS. The crash remains under investigation.
