Clayton, OH (August 29, 2026) – A 17-year-old pedestrian lost their life Thursday after being struck by a pickup truck on SR 49 two days earlier. The collision happened Tuesday afternoon, August 25, shortly after 3 p.m. near mile marker 8 in Montgomery County.
The victim, identified as Railan Derriso of Clayton, was hit after a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 traveling southeast left the right side of the roadway. The pickup then struck Derriso. Derriso was taken by ambulance to Miami Valley Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. He died two days later.
The 43-year-old driver was not injured, and troopers determined the driver was at fault. The investigation remains active, with charges against the driver expected as the case proceeds. Our sincere condolences go out to Railan Derriso’s family and loved ones.
