Clayton, OH (August 29, 2026) – A 17-year-old pedestrian lost their life on Thursday after being struck by a pickup truck on SR 49 two days earlier. The collision happened Tuesday afternoon, August 25, shortly after 3 p.m. near mile marker 8 in Montgomery County.
The victim, identified as Railan Derriso of Clayton, was hit after a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 traveling southeast left the right side of the roadway. The pickup then struck Derriso. Derriso was taken by ambulance to Miami Valley Hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. He died two days later.
The 43-year-old driver was not injured, and troopers determined the driver was at fault. The investigation remains active, with charges against the driver expected as the case proceeds.
