Turtle Creek, PA (August 29, 2026) – One person is in critical condition, and two others are stable after a garbage truck struck multiple vehicles in Turtle Creek. The collision occurred on the Tri-Boro Expressway at Grant St. while the truck was traveling east.
According to Allegheny County police, the Pittsburgh garbage truck hit the rear of a Mitsubishi Mirage that had stopped at a red light. The truck then continued through the intersection and struck a Chevy Colorado before overturning onto its side.
The force of the wreck knocked a tire from the Colorado. The tire flew into an unoccupied Turtle Creek police car and broke through its rear window.
Traffic along the Tri-Boro Expressway was expected to face delays for several hours while the roadway was examined. Police had not released what caused the garbage truck to strike the Mitsubishi. The circumstances surrounding the accident remain under review.
