Santa Fe Springs, CA (July 30, 2026) – Two vehicles were involved in a collision on July 28 on northbound I-605 just south of I-5 in Santa Fe Springs. Initial reports indicated a dark-colored SUV and a white tanker truck were blocking the No. 2 and No. 3 lanes following the crash.
According to CHP dispatch information, the SUV struck the fuel tank of the tanker truck, causing a diesel leak across multiple freeway lanes. Emergency units were called to the freeway shortly before 6:00 p.m. As crews worked to manage the spill, all northbound lanes were temporarily stopped to allow for cleanup and vehicle removal.
The extent of any injuries has not been released, though the report indicated medical assistance was requested. The cause of the collision remains under investigation as additional information becomes available.
