What Is Examined After a Residential Fire?
Following a residential fire, investigators carefully examine the structure to determine where the fire started and how it spread. Burn patterns, electrical systems, appliances, and other potential ignition sources are commonly reviewed to identify the origin. Damage to neighboring buildings is also documented when flames extend beyond the initial structure.
Investigators may also evaluate weather conditions, wind direction, and the construction materials involved because these factors can influence how quickly a fire grows. Photographs, witness statements, and physical evidence collected from the property help build a clearer understanding of what occurred. As additional findings become available, investigators can better determine the circumstances that contributed to the fire.
