Lake Charles, LA (July 9, 2026) – Two people were hurt after a multi-vehicle crash involving six vehicles along Ryan Street late on Tuesday morning. The chain reaction occurred at about 11:40 a.m. on July 7.
According to an initial report, a gold SUV was traveling north when the driver lost control while changing lanes and crossed into southbound traffic. Police said the SUV struck an oncoming vehicle, triggering a series of collisions involving six vehicles. Investigators also stated the SUV appeared to be speeding before the collision.
Two people riding in the same vehicle were taken to a local hospital with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. No other injuries were confirmed.
The SUV driver was arrested and charged with reckless driving, no insurance, and operating a vehicle with defective equipment.
Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the crash.
