Warren County, MO (June 9, 2026) – Two people sustained serious injuries in a four-vehicle collision on Monday morning on Missouri Route 47 in Warren County.
The crash occurred at approximately 8:13 a.m. near 24799 MO-47. According to investigators, a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound when it crossed the centerline and entered the northbound lanes.
The Silverado first struck the side of a northbound 2014 Nissan Rogue. After the initial impact, the Rogue slid into the southbound lanes and collided with a 2019 Ford F-150. The Silverado continued in the northbound lanes and then collided head-on with a northbound 2023 Ford Explorer.
The Silverado driver, a 53-year-old Warrenton man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. The Explorer driver, a 32-year-old Marthasville man, was also taken to the same hospital with serious injuries.
No injuries were reported for the drivers of the Nissan Rogue or Ford F-150. All four vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the roadway.
Investigators continue to examine the factors that caused the Silverado to cross the centerline. We are thinking of those injured and wish them a full recovery.
Why Centerline-Crossing Crashes Can Lead to Severe Injuries
Crashes involving a vehicle crossing the centerline can be particularly dangerous because they frequently place vehicles on a direct path toward opposing traffic. When impacts occur at roadway speeds, the forces involved can increase the likelihood of serious harm.
A centerline departure can trigger multiple collisions, especially on two-lane highways where traffic moves in opposite directions. One initial contact may cause additional vehicles to become involved as drivers attempt to avoid the hazard.
Investigators reviewing these crashes often examine roadway conditions, vehicle movements, driver actions, and any factors that may have contributed to a lane departure. Physical evidence, vehicle damage patterns, and witness statements can help establish the sequence of events and why multiple vehicles became involved.
