What Happens After a Two-Vehicle Crash at an Intersection?
When two vehicles collide at an intersection, investigators typically begin by documenting the position of each vehicle, roadway markings, and any visible damage. Photos, witness statements, and physical evidence such as tire marks can help establish how the vehicles approached the intersection and what occurred before contact.
Traffic control devices, weather, lighting, and road conditions are also reviewed as part of the process. If either vehicle leaves the roadway, investigators may examine the surrounding terrain and final resting position to better understand the sequence of movements. Tow truck records, vehicle inspections, and any available camera footage may also provide useful information while the review continues.
