Why Property-Damage Traffic Collisions Are Still Carefully Documented
Even when a traffic collision does not result in reported injuries, documenting what happened remains an important part of the process. Drivers are usually encouraged to exchange insurance information, photograph vehicle damage, and note the positions of the vehicles before they are moved when it is safe to do so. Official reports can also help establish the basic facts surrounding the collision and may become valuable if damage estimates change or delayed injuries are later discovered. In many cases, roadway conditions, vehicle positions, and witness statements are reviewed to create an accurate record of what occurred. Careful documentation helps ensure that insurance claims and any later questions about the collision are supported by reliable information.
