St. Louis, MO (August 30, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision occurred early on Friday, August 28, on eastbound I-270 east of McDonnell Blvd. The vehicles were traveling eastbound when the wreck occurred shortly after 12:53 a.m.
A 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix was stopped in lane two without lights when a 2015 Jeep Cherokee approached in the same lane. The Jeep driver steered left to avoid the Pontiac, but the front of the Jeep struck the rear center of the stopped vehicle.
The Pontiac slid into lane three, while the Jeep left the left edge of the roadway and struck the center concrete traffic barrier with its front center.
The 20-year-old female Pontiac driver and 39-year-old male Jeep driver were both hurt and taken to SSM Health DePaul Hospital for treatment. Both drivers were from St. Louis, and their safety device use was listed as unknown. Emergency units assisted at the site. The investigation into the cause of the accident is still underway.
