Roseville, CA (August 6, 2026) – Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash on northbound SR-65 just south of Sunset Blvd on August 6. The collision was reported shortly after 5:00 p.m. and temporarily blocked the first and second northbound lanes while emergency units worked at the roadway.

Dispatch records indicate the vehicles involved included a black BMW sedan, a white Toyota Corolla, and a silver hatchback. One witness reported seeing smoke coming from an engine and an unknown liquid leaking from one of the vehicles, raising concerns that it could catch fire. Another witness told dispatch they had video footage of what happened.

One vehicle was left disabled following the crash, and an ambulance arrived at the roadway along with other emergency personnel.

Further details about the accident had not been released at the time of publication. The cause of the collision remains under review as investigators continue gathering information.

We wish those hurt a smooth and speedy recovery.

What Can Lead to Multi-Vehicle Crashes on Busy Highways?

Multi-vehicle crashes usually happen when traffic is heavy, and drivers have little time to react to sudden changes ahead. A single vehicle slowing unexpectedly, following too closely, distracted driving, or reduced visibility can quickly involve several vehicles, especially on high-speed highways.

After a roadway is cleared, investigators typically examine vehicle positions, witness statements, roadway markings, and any available video footage to better understand how the sequence unfolded. Damage patterns and physical evidence can also help establish the order in which vehicles came into contact. As additional information becomes available, reports may provide a clearer picture of the factors that contributed to the chain of events and whether any traffic violations were involved
