Why Injury Reports May Change After a Traffic Crash
Initial reports from a traffic crash are usually based on limited information provided by callers or people at the scene. As emergency personnel evaluate those involved, the reported severity can change if someone begins experiencing pain or signs of injury that were not immediately apparent.
Some injuries, including those affecting the neck, back, or head, may not be obvious right away. Because of this, dispatch records are frequently updated as new information becomes available. Early reports may also change as vehicles are assessed, witnesses are interviewed, and medical evaluations are completed. These updates help provide a more accurate picture of what occurred and ensure that the appropriate level of assistance is sent when needed.
