Marlborough, MA (August 12, 2026) – Two people died Monday afternoon, August 10, after a collision on I-290 eastbound in Marlborough. Both were ejected from a white SUV involved in the wreck, according to the Marlborough Fire battalion chief.
A second vehicle, a black SUV, came to rest among trees in the median. One person from that vehicle was taken to a hospital with injuries. Debris that appeared to be paper was scattered across the roadway, while one lane in the opposite direction was also closed for emergency units.
Two dogs were inside the white SUV. One was taken to an animal hospital for injuries, while the other was unharmed and placed with Marlborough Animal Control. Traffic remained disrupted for several hours before I-290 reopened shortly after 7 p.m.
The cause of the fatal collision remains under investigation as additional details are reviewed.
