St. Petersburg, FL (September 6, 2026) – According to official reports, a suspected Ford F-150 or Ram struck two pedestrians and left them seriously injured on Friday night, September 4, at 49th Street North and 40th Avenue North. The driver fled the scene after the crash.

The collision happened around 10:55 p.m. A 19-year-old woman and a 20-year-old man were walking south along the east side of 49th Street North. They were crossing 40th Avenue North when the truck struck them. Investigators said a white pickup truck was traveling south on 49th Street North before turning left onto 40th Avenue North.

The truck hit both pedestrians and continued eastbound without stopping. Both victims were taken to Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital with serious injuries. They were later reported to be in stable condition. The suspect vehicle is described as a white, single-cab pickup with an extended bed.

The incident remains under investigation as authorities continue working to identify the driver and locate the pickup truck. Our thoughts are with both pedestrians as they recover from their injuries.

Pedestrian Safety and Hit-and-Run Crashes

Pedestrians are especially vulnerable in crashes because they have little protection against the force of a vehicle. Drivers should watch carefully at intersections, yield to people crossing the roadway, and check for pedestrians before turning.

Leaving the scene after a crash can make it harder for injured people to receive help and can delay efforts to identify the vehicle involved. A damaged front end, broken lights, or other vehicle damage may provide useful evidence during a hit-and-run investigation.

1Seek treatment promptly after being injured in an accident. Your first priority should always be your health. Many providers offer treatment on a lien basis, meaning you can get the care you need now and pay later when your claim is resolved.
2Before speaking with an insurance company, make sure you have the facts. An official police report is the most reliable record of what happened and can help establish liability An experienced attorney can assist you in obtaining this report and using it to protect your interests.
3Consider having your case reviewed by a qualified attorney who can guide you through the next steps. They will safeguard your rights and pursue the compensation you deserve.
