Holly, MI (June 29, 2026) – Two motorcyclists were left in critical condition following a collision near North Milford Road and Wind Valley Lane on Saturday, June 27. Deputies responded around 4:50 p.m. to multiple reports of a serious wreck.

A 28-year-old Fenton resident was driving a BMW M550Xi southbound on North Milford Road and attempting to turn left into a private driveway. At the same time, two motorcyclists were traveling northbound on North Milford.

The BMW and both motorcycles collided, ejecting the riders, a 26-year-old Grand Blanc resident and a 21-year-old Grand Blanc resident, from their bikes. Both were taken by ambulance to an area hospital, where they remained in critical condition.

The driver of the BMW was not hurt and was wearing a seat belt. Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a part in the crash, and it has not yet been determined whether speed contributed to the collision. The accident remains under active review.

Our thoughts are with the injured riders and their families as they navigate this difficult time.

What Factors Are Reviewed After a Motorcycle Crash Involving a Turning Vehicle?

Crashes that occur when a vehicle turns into the path of an oncoming motorcycle are tied to visibility and timing. A motorcycle’s smaller profile can make it harder for drivers to judge its speed and distance compared to a car, especially during a left turn across oncoming lanes. This type of misjudgment is one of the more common causes of motorcycle and vehicle crashes at intersections and driveways.

Riders involved in this kind of collision are at a much higher risk of serious injury than vehicle occupants. Motorcycles offer little protection compared to a car’s frame, seat belts, and airbags, so even a moderate-speed crash can result in ejection and severe trauma. Helmets and protective riding gear can reduce the severity of injuries, though they cannot eliminate the risk.

Investigators reviewing these crashes typically examine vehicle speeds, sightlines at the turn, and whether any impairment or distraction was a factor. Toxicology results and witness statements are commonly used to rule out or confirm potential causes.
