East Bloomfield, NY (August 10, 2026) – Two Bloomfield men suffered serious injuries late on Saturday, August 8, when their ATV crashed into an SUV on Gauss Road in East Bloomfield. The crash was reported around 11:10 p.m. Emergency responders arrived to find the two ATV occupants down an embankment beside the roadway.
The initial investigation found that a Toyota RAV4 was traveling east on Gauss Road when it moved onto the shoulder to allow emergency vehicle traffic. An ATV traveling east at high speed slowed but could not avoid striking the RAV4. The ATV then left the south shoulder, crossed a driveway, and went down an embankment. It rolled to the bottom, ejecting both occupants, who were found several feet from the ATV.
The injured riders were identified as 20-year-old Evan Whiting and 19-year-old Benjamin Jones, both of Bloomfield. Both suffered serious injuries and were taken to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment. The occupants of the Toyota were not injured. The crash remains under investigation as officials continue reviewing the circumstances.
