Paulding County, OH (June 7, 2026) – A 20-year-old Continental woman lost her life on Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle roadway collision in Paulding County.

According to investigators, Sara Woolbright was driving a 2002 Volkswagen Beetle west on County Road 138 at about 2:12 p.m. on Friday, June 5. After stopping at the intersection with State Route 637, she entered the roadway and moved into the path of a northbound 2025 Ford F-750.

The two vehicles struck each other and then traveled off the west side of State Route 637 before hitting a guardrail. Woolbright was pronounced dead at the scene.

The truck was driven by Brian Robinson, 40, of Defiance. A passenger, 64-year-old Ronald Sanholtz of Liberty Center, was also in the vehicle. Neither Robinson nor Sanholtz was hurt.

Investigators reported that drugs and alcohol are not believed to have contributed to the collision. No charges had been filed as of the initial report.

The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under review as investigators continue their work. We extend our sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Sara Woolbright as they mourn this loss.

How Stop-Sign Intersections Can Become Dangerous

Intersections controlled by stop signs require drivers to carefully judge traffic speed, distance, and available gaps before proceeding. Even when a driver comes to a complete stop, misjudging an approaching vehicle can lead to severe consequences.

Rural intersections can present additional challenges because vehicles on through roads may travel at higher speeds than drivers expect. Limited visibility, roadway design, weather conditions, and driver attention can all affect decision-making. Large commercial vehicles and heavy trucks may also require greater distances to slow down or avoid hazards.

Investigators reviewing fatal roadway collisions often examine traffic controls, vehicle positions, witness accounts, and physical evidence from the roadway. These details help establish how the sequence of events unfolded and provide a clearer picture of the factors involved before the vehicles came into contact.
