Lansing, MI (September 1, 2026) – A 25-year-old man was killed on Sunday, August 30, after a two-vehicle rollover crash on Grand River Avenue in Lansing.

According to the Lansing Police Department, officers responded to the crash near the intersection of N. Grand River Avenue and Raymond Drive at about 4:30 p.m. The collision involved two vehicles, with one of them rolling over during the crash.

Officers found the 25-year-old driver suffering from critical injuries. Lansing Fire crews provided lifesaving measures at the scene, but the man was later pronounced dead. Detectives said speed may have been a factor, although the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation.

Grand River Avenue was closed between Sadie Court and Raymond Drive while officers investigated the scene; they have asked anyone with information about the crash to contact the Lansing Police Department.

We would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased victim.

What Are the Risks of Speeding in a Rollover Crash?

Speed can affect both a driver’s ability to control a vehicle and the severity of a collision. When a vehicle is traveling too fast, it can take longer to stop and may be more difficult to steer around an unexpected hazard. Higher speeds can also increase the forces involved when a vehicle strikes another car or leaves the roadway.

Rollover crashes can be particularly dangerous because occupants may experience multiple impacts as the vehicle overturns. Drivers and passengers should wear seat belts on every trip, since restraints help keep occupants inside the vehicle and properly positioned during a collision. Children should also be secured in age- and size-appropriate car seats or booster seats.

Drivers can reduce rollover risks by following posted speed limits and slowing down when road conditions require additional caution. Smooth steering and braking can help maintain control, especially when navigating curves or responding to sudden changes in traffic. Staying focused on the roadway and avoiding distractions also gives drivers more time to react safely.
