Staten Island, NY (July 12, 2026) – Three firefighters were hurt after a high-rise fire broke out Thursday evening, July 9, at the Richmond Terrace Houses building on Jersey St. in the New Brighton neighborhood of Staten Island.
The fire was reported at about 7:15 p.m. on the eighth floor of the residential building at 131 Jersey St. Emergency units arrived and worked to contain the flames, which were limited to a bedroom inside an apartment. A total of 20 units and 60 personnel took part in the effort to put out the fire.
Fire officials said no residents were hurt. Three firefighters received minor injuries while working inside the building. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and additional details will be released as they investigate the case.
