Long Beach, CA (June 25, 2026) – Three people were hospitalized after an SUV crashed into a house on Tuesday afternoon in Long Beach.

According to preliminary information, the wreck occurred near East Bort Street and Long Beach Boulevard at approximately 1:50 p.m. Investigators said the SUV struck the front of a residence, causing debris to enter the home.

Two women who were inside the house were hit by debris generated by the collision. Both women, along with the SUV driver, were taken to a hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

The homeowner was not present at the time of the crash and later stated that the property was rented. Video from the roadway showed the SUV partially lodged inside the structure before it was removed later in the afternoon.

Police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence. Additional details about the people involved had not been released as of this report.

Investigators continue to examine the circumstances that led to the crash. We extend our best wishes to those hurt and hope for their full recovery.

How Vehicle Crashes Can Affect Homes and Occupants

When a vehicle strikes a building, the damage can extend beyond the immediate point of contact. Structural components such as walls, support beams, windows, and utility connections may be affected, posing hazards to people on the property.

Even when occupants are not directly struck by a vehicle, flying debris can cause injuries. Pieces of drywall, glass, wood, and other building materials may travel significant distances inside a structure during a sudden impact. For that reason, medical evaluations are often recommended for anyone exposed to falling or airborne debris.

Property assessments following these types of accidents typically focus on both visible and hidden damage. Engineers or inspectors may assess the structure’s stability to determine whether repairs are needed before the building can be safely occupied again. These evaluations help identify safety concerns that may not be immediately apparent after the collision.
