What Is Reviewed After a Serious Highway Crash?
After a serious highway crash, investigators usually examine several factors to determine how the roadway situation developed. Vehicle positions, damage patterns, driver actions, and road conditions can provide details about what happened. Weather, visibility, and traffic movement may also be reviewed when available.
Witness accounts can help provide additional information about the moments before a crash occurred. Modern vehicles may contain data systems that record information such as speed, braking, and other driving activity. These details can help create a clearer picture of the circumstances surrounding a highway collision and may assist in preventing similar crashes in the future.
