Chicago, IL (August 4, 2026) – Five people, including three Chicago police officers, a man, and a child, were hurt after a two-vehicle collision on Sunday night, August 2, in Washington Park. The crash was reported around 9:33 p.m. along East 63rd Street.
Officers traveling in an unmarked squad car were responding to a report of a person with a gun when the crash occurred. The police vehicle was heading west on 63rd Street from Indiana Avenue when it collided with a white car traveling north. Emergency units responded to the scene and assisted the injured individuals.
Officials have not released details about the severity of the injuries or identified the occupants of the civilian vehicle. The circumstances leading up to the crash remain under review.
