Grimesland, NC (July 29, 2026) – Four people were hurt after a head-on collision along Highway 33 near the Pitt-Beaufort county line on July 28.
The wreck happened shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Highway 33 east of Grimesland. According to initial reports, a red Chevy traveling east crossed the centerline and struck a white SUV. One of the vehicles spun around and came to rest at the bottom of a small embankment.
Multiple occupants were inside both vehicles. All were taken to ECU Health Medical Center with injuries that were described as non-life-threatening. The highway remained closed for about an hour before reopening shortly after 4:00 p.m.
Charges are pending as the investigation into what led to the collision continues.
