Hillsboro, OR (September 8, 2026) – A 4-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries after he was struck by a commercial utility vehicle Monday afternoon, September 7, near Jackson Elementary School in Hillsboro.
According to the Hillsboro Police Department, the crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian happened around 3:40 p.m. on Northeast Cambrey Court, just off Jackson School Road. A family member told KGW that the boy was riding his bicycle and had fallen down when the driver of the commercial utility vehicle backed over him.
Hillsboro Fire & Rescue said the boy suffered life-threatening injuries, and first responders activated Life Flight so he could be transported by air to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. A family member later said the boy was stable.
Police said the driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No citations had been issued. Northeast Jackson School Road was temporarily closed between Estate Drive and Rogahn Street while emergency crews responded.
