Albuquerque, NM (September 8, 2026) – A two-vehicle collision was reported at Comanche Road Northeast and Louisiana Boulevard Northeast at about 11:13 a.m. on Monday, September 7. One vehicle came to rest on its side with two people still inside.
Emergency units helped the occupants exit the truck through its rear window. Four people were evaluated at the scene, and two were taken to a hospital for further medical care.
The circumstances surrounding the wreck remain under review. We hope those hurt make a full recovery.
Why Can Side-Resting Vehicles Create Added Injury Risks?
When a vehicle tips onto its side, occupants can be moved sharply against seat belts, doors, windows, and interior surfaces. This movement may place significant force on the head, neck, shoulders, and limbs.
Leaving the vehicle can also become more difficult when normal doors are blocked by the ground or surrounding objects. In some cases, occupants may need to use another opening, such as a rear window, to exit safely.
Seat belt use, vehicle speed, cabin structure, and the direction of force can influence injury severity. A vehicle’s final position can also affect how easily occupants can move after the roadway emergency. Medical evaluations may help identify pain or other trauma that is not immediately obvious after a vehicle rolls onto its side.
