Lauderhill, FL (August 15, 2026) – A tractor-trailer crash on the southbound Florida Turnpike in Lauderhill sent five people to local hospitals and set several vehicles on fire on Thursday night, August 13. The crash occurred between Oakland Park Boulevard and Sunrise Boulevard.
The fire began after a crash involving a vehicle hauler and a motorcycle. The hauler was carrying nine vehicles, six of which caught fire, including two electric vehicles. Emergency units responded to the scene as flames spread among the vehicles. Tamarac Fire Rescue also assisted with the response, and crews eventually extinguished the fire.
Five people were taken to local hospitals. According to authorities, two of those people were involved in a separate crash involving onlookers in the northbound lanes. Most southbound lanes remained closed for several hours while the circumstances surrounding the crash were reviewed. The lanes have since reopened to traffic.
