A Ford Focus was traveling south on Hwy 5 and waiting to turn left. An Acura TSX was also heading south, while a Chrysler 300 was traveling north when the vehicles collided at the intersection.

We hope everyone hurt in the collision makes a steady recovery.

How Can Drivers Stay Safer During Left Turns?

Left turns require drivers to monitor traffic approaching from multiple directions while checking for vehicles traveling alongside them. Drivers should use their turn signals early and maintain a clear view before moving across opposing traffic.

A vehicle waiting to turn should remain stopped until there is enough space to complete the maneuver safely. Drivers approaching an intersection should also reduce speed and watch for vehicles that may be preparing to turn.

Good visibility can make a major difference, especially at night. Keeping headlights and windows clean can help drivers see other vehicles, lane markings, and traffic signals more clearly. Drivers should avoid distractions and give themselves enough time to make decisions without rushing.
