Seaford, DE (July 26, 2026) – A 73-year-old Seaford man was killed after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the 4763 block of Woodpecker Road in Seaford. The fatal hit-and-run crash occurred around 2:10 p.m. on Friday, July 24.
According to Delaware State Police, the bicyclist was traveling eastbound along the south edge of Woodpecker Road west of Butler Branch Road when an eastbound vehicle struck him. The driver left the scene and has not been located. Emergency units responded and found the bicyclist suffering from fatal injuries. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and aviation support was not utilized.
Woodpecker Road was closed for approximately four hours while crews processed the scene. Investigators believe the suspect vehicle may have damage on the passenger side, possibly near the turn signal area. The incident remains under review by authorities.
