New Baltimore, MI (September 1, 2026) – A 79-year-old man was killed on Sunday, August 30, after he was struck by an SUV in New Baltimore, according to the New Baltimore Police Department.
Officers responded around 10 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. The crash was initially reported near 23 Mile Road and Main Street before the location was updated to Green Street near the Pennzoil, just northeast of Rose Street.
Detectives found the man in the roadway with apparent fatal injuries and no signs of life. The New Baltimore Fire Department responded, and the SUV driver remained at the scene, cooperated with investigators, and was interviewed. Witnesses were also interviewed as part of the investigation.
The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Team and the Macomb County Medical Examiner’s Office assisted at the scene. The roadway remained closed for several hours while investigators processed the crash, which remains under investigation.
