Reno, NV (June 22, 2026) – Multiple people were injured, including an 84-year-old who remains in critical condition, following a three-vehicle crash linked to an alleged street race at the intersection of Rock Blvd and McCarran Blvd in Reno late Saturday night, June 20.

According to the Reno Police Department, the collision occurred just before midnight when an Audi RS5 and a Porsche 911 GTS were reportedly engaged in a high-speed street race while traveling southbound on McCarran Blvd. Investigators said both vehicles ran a red light at Rock Blvd and collided with an uninvolved Toyota pickup truck.

The Toyota was occupied by six people, all of whom were transported to local hospitals for treatment. Detectives reported that one of the occupants, an 84-year-old individual, sustained critical injuries.

Authorities also stated that the teen driver of the Porsche, along with the adult driver and passenger of the Audi, were taken to hospitals following the crash. Information regarding the extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

The Reno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded to the scene and is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

We hope all those injured in this crash make a full recovery.

Street Racing Crashes Result in Serious Injuries

Crashes involving suspected street racing frequently lead to severe injuries due to the high speeds involved and the reduced reaction time available to drivers. Innocent motorists face significant risks when racing vehicles disregard traffic signals or roadway conditions.

Investigators reviewing these incidents typically examine vehicle speeds, surveillance footage, witness statements, roadway evidence, and data from the involved vehicles. Authorities work to determine the sequence of events and whether traffic violations or other factors contributed to the collision.

Street racing remains a major public safety concern because it increases the likelihood of high-impact crashes that can affect both participants and uninvolved road users.
