Taylor County, WI (August 18, 2026) – An eight-year-old Wisconsin child died on Monday afternoon, August 17, after being struck by a northbound vehicle near County Road H and Polley Lane in the Township of Aurora.
The collision was reported around 3:05 p.m. Emergency units went to the area after the child was struck while in the roadway.
Preliminary findings indicate the child had been checking a mailbox along the east side of County Road H. The youngster then attempted to cross toward the west side when the vehicle struck them, sending them into the east ditch.
The driver and passengers in the vehicle were not hurt. The child was later pronounced dead from the injuries suffered in the collision.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is assisting with the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
