Moyers, OK (June 19, 2026) – An 8-year-old girl lost her life in an ATV accident on Wednesday night near the intersection of Short Trail and Buck Creek Rd in Moyers, Pushmataha County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 10 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17. Troopers said the girl was driving the ATV south on Short Trail at a high rate of speed when she attempted a left turn onto Buck Creek Rd.
Investigators reported the ATV overturned during the turn, ejecting the child. The vehicle then came down on top of her. She was pronounced dead as a result of injuries sustained in the wreck.
A passenger riding in the ATV was not injured. Authorities stated that neither occupant was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
An online fundraiser identified the girl as Kinsley. Her grandmother described her as an adventurous child who enjoyed fishing and riding off-road vehicles and who brought joy to those around her.
Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash. Our deepest condolences go out to Kinsley’s family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.
Why ATV Rollovers Can Be Especially Dangerous
ATV rollovers are among the most common types of off-road vehicle accidents. These vehicles are designed for uneven terrain, but sudden turns, excessive speed, and shifts in balance can increase the likelihood of a rollover, particularly when navigating curves or changing direction.
When a rollover occurs, occupants may be thrown from the vehicle or become trapped beneath it. The weight of an ATV can cause severe injuries, especially when riders are ejected during an overturn. Investigators often review factors such as vehicle speed, terrain conditions, turning movements, and occupant positioning to understand how a rollover occurred. Safety equipment, rider experience, and the presence of passengers may also be examined when determining the circumstances that contributed to an ATV accident.
