Phoenix, AZ (January 2, 2026) – A deadly crash involving a pickup truck and a Valley Metro light rail train left one person dead and four others injured early Tuesday morning in central Phoenix. The collision occurred around 5:00 a.m. near the intersection of Central Avenue and Indian School Road, prompting a large emergency response.
According to the Phoenix Fire Department, the crash resulted in a derailment of the train after it was struck by the pickup. The circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation, and it is not yet known what caused the two vehicles to cross paths.
