How Rear-End Motorcycle Crashes Often Become Severe Incidents
Motorcycle rear-end collisions are often serious because riders have less protection than in enclosed vehicles. Even at moderate speeds, the impact force can lead to severe trauma.
These crashes frequently occur when a vehicle ahead slows or changes speed unexpectedly. Motorcycles may have less stopping distance margin, especially in low-visibility or nighttime conditions.
Roadway conditions and reaction time play key roles in preventing these incidents. When a rider is ejected or loses control after impact, the risk of secondary injury from the roadway increases significantly.
