Warren, MO (January 4, 2026) – Emergency responders in Warren County were dispatched to the scene of a serious three-vehicle accident involving injuries on Friday evening. The crash occurred around 5:35 p.m. on MO-47 at Southbend Dr and involved both adult and teen drivers.

First responders, including paramedics and fire personnel, provided assistance to several injured individuals at the scene. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the incident began when a 16-year-old male driver of a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban, heading southbound, attempted to avoid a slower-moving vehicle, a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan, by swerving to the left. In doing so, the Suburban struck the left side of the Caravan and then collided head-on with a northbound 2016 Ford F150.

The teenage driver of the Suburban sustained minor injuries and was taken by private vehicle to SSM Health St. Joseph Hospital in Lake Saint Louis. A 17-year-old male passenger from Warrenton, riding in the F150, suffered moderate injuries and was transported by Warren County Ambulance to the same facility for treatment.

Both the Suburban and the F150 were totaled and had to be removed from the scene by Prime Towing. The Grand Caravan, which sustained moderate damage, was driven away. All vehicles were traveling in their respective directions at the time, southbound for the Suburban and Caravan, and northbound for the F150.

Troopers from Troop C are continuing to investigate the sequence of events and contributing factors. Further updates may follow as additional details are confirmed.

Our thoughts go out to the injured individuals and their families, and we wish everyone involved a full and timely recovery.

Teen Driver Crash in Missouri

Accidents involving young drivers continue to be a concern across Missouri roadways. The recent collision on MO-47 at Southbend Dr underscores the risks associated with driver inexperience, particularly during critical split-second decisions such as swerving to avoid a vehicle.

This particular crash, involving two teens from Warrenton, calls attention to the heightened dangers faced by younger drivers, especially those not wearing safety devices. Both injured teens in this incident were reportedly unrestrained, a factor known to increase the severity of injuries during impact. Missouri law mandates seat belt use, and statistics consistently show that seat belts save lives and reduce injury severity, particularly for teen occupants.

The location, MO-47 at Southbend Dr, is known to serve both local and through traffic. At certain times of day, traffic flow can fluctuate rapidly, requiring drivers to stay alert and maintain safe following distances. Incidents like this serve as reminders that even brief lapses in attention or overcorrection can have serious consequences, especially when multiple vehicles are involved.

Beyond the physical recovery for those injured, navigating the aftermath of a crash, particularly for families of teenage drivers, can be complex. Questions often arise regarding liability, insurance coverage, and medical expenses. Missouri families dealing with similar circumstances may benefit from professional legal guidance to understand their rights and available options, particularly if injuries were sustained through another party’s actions.

Programs that focus on defensive driving, especially for new drivers, remain a vital component of community safety. Whether through high school-based instruction, parent-supervised sessions, or community initiatives, ongoing education can help reduce the likelihood of repeat incidents.

If your loved one has been hurt in a crash involving a teen driver, it’s important to know what help is available and how to access it.
