Yucaipa, CA (January 5, 2026) – A crash involving a white Honda Civic on eastbound I-10 near the Wildwood Rest Area left at least one person injured Friday morning, with reports indicating the vehicle caught fire near the gas tank following the collision.
The incident was reported around 7:40 a.m. on I-10 eastbound just west of the rest area outside Yucaipa. According to dispatch information, the Honda Civic was involved in a collision with an unidentified vehicle and came to a stop in the center divider. A fire was observed igniting near the vehicle’s fuel tank shortly afterward.
Emergency responders from Cal Fire and San Bernardino County Fire were dispatched promptly. One individual was reported to still be inside the vehicle when help arrived. Paramedics provided on-scene medical aid, and at least one person was injured in the crash. Details regarding the extent of injuries have not yet been released.
Traffic in the area was impacted while fire crews extinguished the blaze and secured the scene. Tow services were requested to remove the damaged vehicle.
The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and is reviewing whether mechanical failure, driver error, or other factors led to the collision and subsequent fire.
