San Diego, CA (January 5, 2026) – A 33-year-old woman sustained an injury following a collision near the Sunset Cliffs area on Wednesday evening as she attempted to merge onto a freeway, according to emergency dispatch audio.
The crash took place on January 4 around 7:18 p.m., when the woman’s vehicle was struck by another car that had reportedly spun out near the freeway entrance. The impact caused light front-end damage to the woman’s vehicle but did not result in airbag deployment.
Emergency responders from Mercy and local medical personnel arrived promptly at the scene. The driver, who was alert and oriented, complained of right ankle pain and was transported to Sharp Memorial Hospital for evaluation. No visible signs of trauma were reported, and she was described as stable at the time of transport.
The incident was classified as a minor injury crash, and no other individuals were reported injured. The woman’s vehicle was traveling between 45 and 50 mph when the collision occurred.
